1 cup raisins

8 tablespoons cream cheese (softened)

5 teaspoons cinnamon sugar

4 Granny Smith apples (peeled, cored, and chopped)

Pinch salt

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 cup baked apple filling

1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/4 cup light brown sugar, packed

2 tablespoons cornstarch

1 teaspoon cinnamon

Big pinch of salt

Directions:

A close up of food on a table

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Butter a 9-inch tart pan with a removable bottom.

In a small bowl, mix together the raisins, cream cheese, 2 teaspoons of cinnamon sugar, and 1 tablespoon of apple sauce. Set aside.

Peel and chop the apples into small pieces. Sprinkle them with lemon juice and salt, toss to coat, and set aside.

To make the baked apple filling: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Stir in granulated sugar, light brown sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, and salt until combined well and bubbling.

Add chopped apples and bring the mixture to a simmer; cook for about 10 minutes until apples are tender but not mushy. Remove from heat and pour baked apple mixture into the tart pan. Top baked apple filling with raisin-cream cheese mixture.

In a bowl, mix together the sugar, almond flour, salt, baking powder, and shortening until crumbs form. Spoon dough on top of baked apples in a tart pan to make an even layer over the baked apple filling and raisins. If the dough is difficult to spread, spray a rolling pin with non-stick cooking spray to ease spreading.

Bake for 30 minutes, until baked apple puff pastry, is golden browned, and baked through. Remove from oven and let baked apple puff pastry cool in tart pan before serving (about 15 minutes). Garnish baked apple puff pastry with whipped cream or ice cream.

Serve baked apple puff pastry warm.
